3 Days!!!

Just 3 days till Lifesong’s next pre-view service!  I cant wait… we have been able to tweak a few things and this next service will be awesome!  I am really excited about the second message in our “Losing My Religion” series… we will look at what faith isn’t, how to make it work and what can happen if we do (think Ephesians 3:20).  You don’t want to miss this Sunday… expect the unexpected!

The Message

This morning I saw a church sign that read – “Sign Broke Message Inside,” and another that said “Church is Where God Meets with His People.”   Ummm… maybe thats the problem… the church is wholed up inside the walls of a building complaining about how bad the “world” is and patting each other on the back about how “good” we are instead of taking the Message of hope found in Christ to those who need it.

The first word in the “Great Commission” is GO (ok its the second but you get the point).  That means get up off your seat and DO SOMETHING!  Stop talking about how “bad” everything is, take the time to invest in someones life and invite them to take a step on their journey of faith.  Lifesong will NEVER be a place that you attend… it will be a people that we become.  The church has left the building.

Informed or Transformed

One of Lifesongs’ core values is teaching for life change… that the Bible is designed to transform not just inform.  According to the dictionary transform means “to change in condition, nature or character.”  Isnt that what The Message is all about?

Jesus came, paid our penalty on the cross and through faith changed our hopeless condition… our very nature changed because of His sacrifice… and it is (or should be) reflected in our character.

I think many Christians (me included) forget this.  We attend too many Bible studies, buy too many books, listen to too many sermons.  Its all wasted if we are unclear on what learning really is… it is not church attendance, listening or reading.  Its not even gaining knowledge (knowledge can actually be a bad thing).  Learning is about translating knowing what to do into doing what we know.  Its about changing.

If we have not changed we have not learned.  What have you learned today?
