sunday night thoughts…

• Good day at Lifesong… good to see first time guests who come back.  I have found a first impression is easy its the second and third ones that are tough 😉
• Third week of Stupid Christians.  Today we talked about being out of touch.  Some highlights of the message were…
  • God has called us to live HOLY lives IN the culture.
  • We are to make an IMPACT in the culture we are in not create a Christian sub-culture.
  • Purity + Proximity = Impact
  • We are Christ’s ambassadors and God is making his appeal through us… that appeal is best made in love not a boycott.
  • Many of us have become so isolated that we don’t know anyone that is not a Christian.  Shame on us.
• Just finished up with our NEXT Step class… love sharing the vision of Lifesong.  Always gets me fired up.
• Our Movie Under The Stars at Beaverbrook Elementary on Friday was great… love leveraging what God gives us to make an IMPACT in our community.
• Remember to bring in your supplies for the flood victims THIS SUNDAY.
• It was awesome to have my wife in the service today… she works so hard leading our Children’s Ministry and VERY rarely gets to be in “Big” church.
• I am proud of Lifesong and am honored to be your pastor!

Sunday night thoughts…

• Decent day today… had a strange vibe all morning.  “Dreary” is the best way to describe it, kinda like the weather.
• Good to have the Lifesong band back leading worship… hope you guys enjoyed the break.
• Some days I teach, others I preach… today I PREACHED.  Talked about Stupid Christians being hypocritical in the message.  Some highlights:
  • There is a big difference between being a hypocrite and being a sinner.  There is an unspoken assumption that a Christian is someone who doesnt sin… the BIBLE is pretty clear that thats not the case.
  • Matthew 23 is pretty much a class on Hypocrisy 101… I dont think Jesus was impressed.
  • A Hypocrite is more concerned with what other PEOPLE think that what GOD thinks about them.
  • We need to implement the important and focus on the internal.
  • It’s easy to focus on religious routines and forget to cultivate our relationship with Christ.

Sunday night thoughts…

• Great day at Lifesong church
• Kicked off our “Stupid Christians” series and talked about being judgmental.  Some highlights of the message were…
  • Judgment, wisdom and discernment are good… being judgmental is bad.
  • There is a big difference between a CONVICTION on GOD”S standards and our preferences… sadly we condemn based on preference too often.
  • We judge by appearance rather than the heart… Jesus doesn’t like that (John 7:24)
  • Stupid Christians judge because of PRIDE… too make themselves feel better.
  • You cant expect a non-Christian to act like a Christian
  • John 13:35 pretty much sums it up… No one has ever been yelled into Heaven
• Our guest band  did an awesome job giving the Lifesong band a break today.  Much thanks to John, Jeremy, Sean,Todd and Chris.
• Pray for the finances of Lifesong…. the last couple of months have been rough.  It takes money to do ministry and we have not been able to do everything that we would have liked because of finances.
• Several guests today… Very cool!
• We received several calls and emails from the mailout… most of them positive, some not so much 😉

• Georgia won… The Falcons won… Denver won… pretty much the perfect weekend

• Labor day weekend + Race weekend = holy crap where did everybody go 😉
• Good day overall… several guests with us today.  Very cool!
• Did I mention that the race was in town this weekend?  I will NEVER understand the fascination with NASCAR… the wrecks and some of the fans are interesting though 😉
• Finished up “So You’re Dead Now What” series and talked about Heaven… some highlights of the message were
  • We can only get a GLIMPSE of Heaven because we can’t even begin to understand how incredible it is.
  • We get a new body in Heaven
  • We live in a perfect world in Heaven
  • We will not struggle in Heaven
  • We get to see God in Heaven
• What do peanut butter, cortisone shots and me being topless have to do with Heaven?  Listen to the podcast to find out 😉
• I interrupt this blog to let you know that they are STILL making LEFT turns in the NASCAR race.
• Really excited about kicking off “Stupid Christians” next Sunday.
• Pray that the postcards make an IMPACT this week.

• College Football season has officially started… all is right in the world again.
• Yep… still turning left.
