sunday night thoughts…

  • Great day at Lifesong church… great to see so many guests!
  • Wrapped up “The Vow” today.  Used Proverbs chapter five and talked about the vow of  PURITY.  Some highlights of the message were…
    • satan’s mission is to kill, steal and destroy anything that matters to God… Marriage is VERY close to His heart.
    • Our adversary knows that our nature is to pursue what we don’t have and he leads us step by step towards the line.
    • You do whatever it takes to RADICALLY reduce the risk (Proverbs 5:8-10).
    • Get PASSIONATE about your marriage… it’s ok to have an affair, just do it with your spouse 😉
    • Visualize the destruction and pain of having an affair BEFORE your head down that path.
  • Had some tech issues and the podcast crashed for the day 😦
  • I have enjoyed this series and really pray that God uses it to strengthen marriages and prepare singles for the future.
  • Lot’s of peeps out for the long weekend… missed you but I hope everyone had good break.
  • The band’s new song Faithful is INCREDIBLE… love it when the THEOLOGY of a song is as good as the TUNE.
  • Had a first this morning… the movie previews started during the message… NOT cool.
  • The Summer schedule has started for the theater which means EARLY start times for all their movies… the next several weeks get crazy hectic for load out.
  • Several of you signed up for the baby dedication on Fathers day.  If you would like to participate, send mark@lifesonglive.com and email.
  • Looking forward to Our Grill & Chill coming up June 13th… great chance to hang out with our awesome people!
  • Can not wait to start our new teaching series, UNSEEN, next week… it will be an intense four weeks!
  • Much thanks to Eric for the awesome graphics for this series… his best work yet!

sunday night thoughts…

  • Good morning at Lifesong church.
  • Week three of “The Vow” and talked about the vow of partnership.  Some highlights of the message were…
    • A great marriage is like a three-legged race… it works only if you work in rhythm and travel in the same direction as your partner.
    • Marriage is a COVENANT not a CONTRACT.  There is a big difference.
    • A covenant partnership includes Godly leadership and mutual submission. (Ephesians 5:21-24)
    • A true marriage partnership is not 50/50… it is both individuals bringing 100% to the relationship.
    • Men, God has called YOU to be the leader in your home… that is a RESPONSIBILITY not a RIGHT and there is a huge difference between leadership and dictatorship.
    • Guys, one of your greatest responsibilities is to guard the vision for your marriage.  Psalm 34:3 is a great place to start.
  • I felt like I dropped the ball delivering the sermon today… I pray that the message got through.
  • Josh our Director of Volunteers took the day off today and it was awesome to see our volunteers step up and pick up the slack.
  • The band did an incredible job leading worship today.  Mark (drummer dude) sounded great singing through his Britney Spears microphone 😉
  • Thirty-three kids in the Children’s Department today… very cool!
  • A couple  people signed up to volunteer today… AWESOME to see.  If you are not plugged in and serving, send josh@lifesonglive.com an email and he will get you hooked up.
  • Crazy low offering… remember that you can always give online 😉
  • I love seeing people Facebook during the services… its cool to get instant feedback, especially when its good.
  • Proud of you for your response to the family in need.  Remember, we need to have all donations in NEXT Sunday.
  • Ready to preach next weeks message… it will be INTENSE.

sunday night thoughts…

  • Good day today… I am really enjoying preaching “The Vow” series.
  • Today we talked about the vow of PURSUIT.  Some highlights of the Message were…
    • If you want a healthy and happy marriage, you MUST pursue your spouse… even more that when you were dating.
    • We tend to judge our spouse by their ACTIONS while we judge ourselves by our INTENTIONS.
    • When you think of something good about your spouse, SAY IT!  No matter how small or seemingly insignificant.
    • Guys, man up and pursue your wife with words of AFFECTION where you have no “expectations.”
    • Ladies, pursue your husband with words of affirmation… he is becoming WHAT you say about him
    • When you think of something special, DO IT!
    • Create “Gomer Pyle” moments… you gotta listen to the podcast on that one 😉
    • When you want something different, BE IT!
    • If you don’t like what you are GETTING, look at what you are GIVING.
  • It is great to know that Lifesong is not alone… received several emails and a text message this morning from people letting us know that they are praying for us… Very cool.
  • Production team did a great job this morning… Blake (new volunteer) is doing an awesome job on the lights.
  • Much thanks to Greg and Josh for representing Lifesong and the Relay For Life event this past Friday.  Both these guys do so much behind the scenes and I am so honored to serve with them.
  • I did not make the event because it was our sixteenth wedding anniversary… I love my wife more and more every day and this series is just reminding me of why.  She is the greatest thing that has happened to me and I am truly blessed to call her my wife (and she is smokin’ hot).
  • Lots of cool stuff coming up… stay tuned!
  • I love you guys

sunday night thoughts…

  • Absolutely incredible day at Lifesong church
  • TWO people gave their lives to Christ today… THAT is why we do what we do!
  • Mother’s Day is usually a down day for us because we have so many who visit with their Mom’s, but we had a great crowd today.
  • We had some serious tech problems today (Projector went out, bad cables, you name it) but the Production team (with one new guy and one “old” hand” really pulled it out… very proud of them!
  • Kicked off “The Vow” today and talked about making the vow to make our marriages a priority.  Some highlights of the message were…
    • Many have difficulties in their marriage because they never face the realities of marriage.  We have unrealistic expectations, we underestimate our differences and harbor un-forgiveness.
    • You must make the vow to take responsibility for your marriage.  It takes work and dedication to make them work… sadly many of us take it for granted.
    • You must vow to celebrate your differences, otherwise they will drive a wedge in the relationship.
    • You must vow to have the right priorities… God is the ONE and you spouse is the TWO.  If you get that out of order you will have problems.
  • Yes I said that I use a loofah when I shower… I am secure in my masculinity 😉
  • The Rhodie’s set a new record setting up the stage today… less that thirty minutes.  Awesome job.
  • I really hope Iron Man is a great movie.  It made for a hectic morning of tear-down because the Theater opened early for it.  Thanks for everyone’s hard work and flexibility.
  • I challenged everyone to commit to be at Lifesong the next four weeks as we go through this series… lets see who is taking the vow of priority.
  • I also asked everyone to commit to seven days of prayer for their marriages.  I will be posting prayer points this week on the blog to keep you on track.
  • Today’s prayer point…
    • Matthew 6:33 says,  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. God, we pray that you’d be first in every area of our lives. Please show us what that looks like and we can make you our #1 on a daily basis.
